Captions

Captions that are always spelled right.

Most auto-caption tools print whatever speech-to-text heard. Vid Optimus matches every caption word to your own script, so names, numbers and jargon come out exactly as you wrote them, timed word by word to the voice.

Why script-matched captions matter

Speech-to-text is good at timing and bad at spelling: a brand name, a place or a number often comes out wrong, and fixing captions by hand is the slowest part of editing.

Vid Optimus uses the transcription for timing only. The words come from your script, snapped to when each one is spoken, so captions stay correct even when the transcription mishears.

Animated captions that keep up with the voice

Highlight the word being spoken by changing its colour or putting a box behind it. Choose how it moves: pop bounces the active word, ghost fades the words not yet spoken, slide up gives the line a short rise on each word, and karaoke sweeps a fill across each word as it is said.

How accurate are the captions?

The words come from your script, not from speech-to-text, so they are spelled exactly as you wrote them. The transcription is only used to time each word.

What caption styles are there?

Five animations: pop, ghost, slide up, karaoke or none. The active word can be highlighted by colour or by a box behind it.

Can I use my own font?

Yes. Use a bundled caption font or any font installed on your computer.

Are captions burned into the video?

Yes. They are rendered into the MP4, on top of the colour look, so they stay sharp on every platform.

Do captions work with my own voiceover recording?

Yes. Your recording is transcribed, you correct any misheard word, and the captions follow your corrected text, timed to your voice.

What key do I need for captions?

A Groq key (free tier available) or an OpenAI key, used for word timings. A long transcription keeps every part already done if the key hits a rate limit.
