Privacy Policy

Your scripts, API keys and videos stay on your computer. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and for how long.

1. What we never collect

This matters more than anything else on this page, so it comes first.

  • We never see your script. When you paste a script into Vid Optimus, it stays on your computer. When part of it is sent to an AI provider (to plan a shot, create an image, time captions or make a voiceover), it goes directly from your computer to that provider. It does not pass through us. The only thing we learn about a script is its length, and only during the free trial, to apply the trial's 5,000-character limit.
  • We never see your API keys. Your keys stay on your computer and are used only to call the providers you chose. They are never sent to us. On Windows, they are stored encrypted in Windows Credential Manager.
  • We never receive your projects, media or videos. Your project files, images, voiceovers and finished videos stay in your own project library folder on your own computer.
  • We never read what you create. Rendering happens on your computer, using your own hardware.

2. When you use an AI or stock provider

Vid Optimus connects to AI and media providers that you choose, for script planning, AI images, stock photos and video, voiceover and transcription. When you use one, the part of your project it needs (for example, one scene's narration or one image prompt) is sent directly from your computer to that provider, using your own API key. We are not part of that exchange, and it does not go through us.

Each provider handles that data under its own privacy policy and terms, not ours. If you want to know how a provider treats what you send it, read that provider's own policy. The built-in free voice and the free stock libraries don't need a key from you, but the same rule applies: the request goes to that provider, not to us.

3. What we do collect

If you create an account or buy a licence

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. We cannot read it.
  • A record of your purchases: which plan, when, how much, and the payment reference.

We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled by our payment processor. We only receive a confirmation and a reference.

If you use the free trial

  • A device identifier and device name, and when the trial started. This is how the 7-day, 3-videos-a-day trial works without an account.
  • How many trial videos you have made, and the character count of a script when you start a video. Never the script itself.

If you activate a licence

  • Your licence key and which plan it belongs to.
  • A device identifier and device name, plus when it was activated and last checked in. This is how the one-computer-at-a-time rule works, and how we can free up your licence when you move to a new computer.
  • Usage counts linked to your licence: how many videos and images you made, how many AI requests were sent, and which provider and model were used. These are numbers and names, never a script, a prompt, an image or a video.

If you contact us

  • Your name, email, topic and message.
  • Your IP address and browser user-agent, saved with the message. We use these to limit how many messages can be sent, so our inbox can't be flooded.

4. Why we keep it

Account and purchase data lets you log in, receive your licence and get a refund where the refund policy allows one. Trial, licence and device data make the trial and plan rules work. Usage counts help us understand which features and providers are used, so we know what to improve and support. Support data lets us answer you. We do not sell any of it, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

5. Analytics and this website

This website may load Google Analytics and a Meta (Facebook) pixel to tell us how many people visit and which pages they read. These tools run on this website only, not inside the desktop app. You can block them with any standard content blocker without breaking the site.

If you arrive through an affiliate link, we set a cookie so the person who referred you gets credit if you buy. It stores a referral code, not your identity.

6. Who else sees it

Only the services we need to run the business:

  • Our payment processor, to take payments and issue refunds.
  • Our email provider, to send licence keys, receipts and replies.
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the database this data lives in.
  • Analytics providers, as described above, for website traffic only.
  • The AI, stock or voice providers you connect, and only with what your app sends them directly, as described in section 2.

We will also share information when the law requires it. Because we hold no copy of your scripts or your media, we have none of that to share.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account and licence data: for as long as your account exists.
  • Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting rules require, usually several years.
  • Support messages: up to two years, so we have context if you write again.
  • Device and trial records: until the device is deactivated or the trial is no longer needed, plus a short period afterwards.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Send you a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and personal data. Purchase records we must keep by law are kept, but separated from your profile.
  • Stop sending you anything other than essential emails, like licence keys and receipts.

9. Children

Vid Optimus is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has given us data, tell us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant for account holders, we will also email you instead of quietly updating the page.
